Comments Welcome Prior to Accreditation Visit

Western Dakota Tech is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). First accredited in 1983, Western Dakota Tech's next accreditation visit is September 18 to September 20, 2017. A team of peer reviewers from colleges around the country will assemble on the Western Dakota Tech campus during that time. Before their visit to campus, the public is invited to provide confidential comments to the peer reviewers.

Western Dakota Tech's 49th Commencement Ceremony Set for May 13

RAPID CITY, SD - Western Dakota Tech's 49th Commencement Ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center's Barnett Arena. 

Approximately 317 students will receive Diplomas or Associate of Applied Science Degrees. 

U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD), will provide the commencement address.

Trans Tech Club Shines at South Dakota SkillsUSA Earning Five Medals


How does a Western Dakota Tech Transportation Technology education compare to others in the state? Excellent, if judging by the results of the Trans Tech Club's performance at the South Dakota SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference Competition at Lake Area Technical Institute, in Watertown, April 6-7.

"Our Western Dakota Tech representatives were up against the best of the best that the three other Tech schools in South Dakota could produce," said Dick Towne, Western Dakota Tech Trans Tech Club Advisor and Transportation Technology Program Director - Heavy Duty Instructor - Welding. "Our students did extremely well, earning one first-place medal, three second-place medals, and one third-place medal. Congratulations to the medal winners and thank you to all the Trans Tech Club members who competed in Skills USA."
