Metallica Scholars Initiative


Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) is thrilled to have been selected to return for the Metallica Scholars Initiative Cohort 6. The world famous rock band and their foundation, All Within My Hands, have partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges to create the Metallica Scholars Initiative. This initiative provides support to community and and technical colleges to enhance technical education and increase the number of students entering the technical workforce.

WDTC will will utilize the grant funding to reduce financial barriers for students in several career programs. 

For the 2024-2025 school year WDTC to assist students in some programs with toolkits, to help reduce needs-based barriers that could deter prospective students from attending.


About All Within My Hands (AWMH)

All Within My Hands was established in 2017 by Metallica to invest in the people and places that have supported the band. It also allows Metallica’s fans to engage in philanthropy and volunteerism. The Foundation is dedicated to creating sustainable communities through workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. All expenses of the Foundation are covered by the band, the board, and a few special friends so that 100% of donations go to the organizations it supports. AWMH is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
