Information about the ACCUPLACER test

ACCUPLACER is a suite of tests that determines your knowledge in math, reading and writing as you prepare to enroll in college-level courses. ACCUPLACER is used to identify your strengths and weaknesses in each subject area and to help you improve your skills through interactive online learning tools. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to place you in the appropriate college courses that meet your skill level.  Although it is a placement exam, it is not timed.

Information about the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

The TEAS is a computerized test and is a proven diagnostic instrument that assists in evaluating academic, test taking, and social skills of new applicants to the Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology programs. Based upon the profile generated with this test, these programs can more objectively screen applicants for admissions. It also assists Western Dakota Technical College in providing information that will help the instructors meet your individual needs as a student while attending the program. There is a testing fee to take the TEAS.

The TEAS contains 4 sections, administered in this order:

• Reading – 58 minutes
• Mathematics – 51 minutes
• Science – 66 minutes
• English and Language Usage – 34 minutes

Your testing results will print out immediately and an Admissions Representative will review your results with you.
