Qualifying WDT Students to Receive CARES Act Emergency Relief Funds

Western Dakota Tech (WDT) has launched the WDT Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF), an emergency aid program for students who might be experiencing difficulties with expenses related to COVID-19 campus disruptions.

There are 602 qualifying WDT students, at this time, who will be mailed a $650 emergency check Friday, May 15, according to Jill Elder, WDT Admissions and Financial Aid Director.

Forms to Request Mask-Making Kits, Order Completed Masks Available

Rapid City healthcare workers and immunocompromised individuals are in great need of facemasks during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Masks for Rapid City is seeking volunteers to make 60,000 masks to help protect them.

Western Dakota Tech (WDT) was asked to lead the Rapid City mask-making and distribution effort and formed Masks for Rapid City.

S.D. Board of Technical Education March Meeting, Western Dakota Tech LEA Petition Hearing Updates

To help decrease the potential of community spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the South Dakota Board of Technical Education (BoTE) meetings slated to take place at Western Dakota Tech (WDT) Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26, will now take place via teleconference on March 26.

The hearing to consider Western Dakota Tech’s Local Education Agency (LEA) petition has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. (MST) on Thursday, May 21, at WDT. This date change has been made to ensure the public can participate and provide testimony that could assist the Board in deliberations.
