Welding Student Awarded mikeroweWorks Foundation Travel Scholarship

Jerhett Cattin, Western Dakota Tech Welding and Fabrication student and South Dakota SkillsUSA Welding gold medal winner, is a 2018 mikeroweWORKS scholarship recipient.

Cattin was awarded the scholarship to be utilized for travel expenses incurred in attending the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky.

Cattin, of Chadron, Neb., will be entering his second year in Western Dakota Tech’s Welding and Fabrication program this August. He received first place in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference (SLSC) competition in the Welding category, at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, S.D., last April. The win qualified Cattin to participate in the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference Welding competition.

"We are very proud of Jerhett's accomplishments," said Troy Barry, Western Dakota Tech Welding and Fabrication Instructor and Jerhett's SkillsUSA Advisor. "Jerhett has been near or at the top of each of his classes, works hard, and holds himself to a high standard.”

The mikeroweWORKS Foundation, in partnership with SkillsUSA, is proud to offer the scholarship opportunity for SkillsUSA members who have competed and placed first in their state association competition. The award is made possible by mikeroweWORKS, the Charles G. Koch Foundation, and Koch Industries.
