WDT graduate sworn in as President of the South Dakota Sheriffs Association

Sheriff Troy Wellman took his Oath of Office as the incoming President of the South Dakota Sheriffs' Association last week. Western Dakota Tech Law Enforcement Program Director Glen Talley administered the oath.

Talley says Wellman began his training in the Western Dakota Tech Law Enforcement Technology program in 1994, which was also the first year Talley began teaching.

Western Dakota Tech Dean of Academics, Kelly Oehlerking, says it’s a proud moment for the school.

“It’s a proud moment for Mr. Talley and for Western Dakota Tech,” Oehlerking said. “It’s a great example of the lifelong benefits of education and the success of our students at Western Dakota Tech.”

Since Wellman and Talley crossed paths at Western Dakota Tech in 1994, 293 students have graduated from the Law Enforcement Technology program.
