The Western Dakota Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy (WDTC LETA) is scheduled for a web-based assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
The Law Enforcement Program of WDTC, to include policies, procedures, management and operations will be assessed against the strictest industry standards. The public is invited to comment as part of a periodic, outside review designed to verify the Academy’s compliance with numerous training and performance standards. This will be in an effort toward continued accreditation.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), administers this accreditation program. CALEA requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by means of a Public Comment Portal. This year the portal can be accessed at:
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Training Academy’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may do so by means of this portal. Further information can be obtained by calling Elias Diaz, Program Director and Accreditation Manager at Western Dakota Technical College at (605) 718-2937.
