Some offices have finished and some are creating their plans for the 2016-2017 year. Understanding the terms specific to Western Dakota Tech’s planning process will make it much easier for you when you start on your plan.
Targets: The measurable objectives in the Western Dakota Tech strategic plan. The targets show where we want to be in the year 2021. For example, our enrollment target is 1,500 full-time equivalent students. You can see the entire strategic plan on the website’s Strategic Plan page.
Benchmarks: The list of measurable objectives Western Dakota Tech wants to reach in a given year. For example, our enrollment benchmark for 2016-2017 is 950.
Goals: The items an individual unit plans to accomplish in a given year. The goals are part of each unit’s unit plan.
Unit: An individual academic program or operational office. For example, the Dental Assisting program is a unit. Financial Aid is a unit, too. Every unit will create an annual unit plan.
Unit plan: The annual collection of goals, tasks, intended results, measures, and analysis each unit will create to show how each unit will contribute to reaching annual benchmarks and five-year targets.
