Enrollment increases by 6%

Western Dakota Tech is excited to announce a six percent increase in enrollment over fall semester, 2015.

The enrollment report shows a headcount of 1,073, 61 students more than last year. In addition, Western Dakota Tech saw a 6.9 percent increase in the number of credit hours in which students are enrolled.

“The increase in enrollment shows the important role Western Dakota Tech holds in producing skilled workers for the community,” President Dr. Ann Bolman said. “It is a testimony to the dedication shown by every faculty member, staff member, and student who walks through our doors.”

What does this have to do with accreditation, you may ask. A lot! An enrollment increase is great news any time it happens, but it is especially excellent when it happens during a probation period. That does not happen to most colleges on probation. Some colleges see significant enrollment declines that last for years. That is not happening to us, and that shows faculty, staff, and the Board have handled the news professionally.

No one panicked, and we were able to effectively communicate the news to show the sanction has nothing to do with the quality of the Western Dakota Tech experience. Thanks to everyone for handling the announcement and its fallout so well.
